How are slab rates calculated?

What is FPPCA / fuel surcharge?

Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA) is a variable surcharge levied by DISCOMs to recover the fluctuating cost of purchasing power from generators. It changes quarterly and typically adds ₹0.10–₹0.50/unit to your bill on top of the SERC-notified base tariff.

What is a telescopic slab system?

In a telescopic (progressive) billing system, you pay each rate only on the units that fall in that tier. For example, if you consume 250 units, you pay tier-1 rate on the first 100, tier-2 rate on the next 100, and tier-3 rate on the remaining 50. You are never penalised by having your entire consumption shift to a higher rate.

How to read my electricity meter reading?
